Master “Kevin” Zhen Kang Sun was born in Dan Dong, China, where he studied martial arts since early childhood. His first teacher was his grandfather, a renown martial arts bodyguard for the Emperor of China at the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Master Sun's life long studies continued with recognized instructors, such as Shi De Zhuo, a head monk at the Shaolin Temple and other noted martial arts and taiji masters, including Professor Men Hui Feng from Beijing Sports University and other high-profile martial arts instructors. Master Sun's Grandmaster, Lu Zijian, a former body guard for China's past President, Chiang Kai Shek, was his most important and noted teacher. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and early Kuomintang period, Grandmaster Lu was one of the 'Three Knights' alongside Jingwu founder Huo Yuanjia and Du Xingwu. Born in 1893, Grandmaster Lu practiced martial arts daily until his death on Oct 21, 2012 where he was 119 yrs old. He is regarded as one of China's most treasured martial artists.
