
About Master Sun
Master Sun was born in Dan Dong, Liao Ning Province, China. He has studied various styles of Chinese Martial Arts since childhood. His first teacher was his grandfather, a well-known martial artist and a bodyguard at the Qing Imperial Palace in Beijing.
Master Sun graduated from Shen Yang Sports University, majoring in Martial Arts. During this time he studied with many skilled professors, including the famous Professors Men Huifeng and Kan Guixing, who were the creators of the some of the most popular modern Taiji forms, such as 24, 42, 48, Chen 56 and the 32 and 42 sword forms. They are also the creators of Dong Yue or East Mountain Taiji.
Some of Master Sun’s honors and awards include:
Honorary Chairman of Dan Dong Martial Arts Association.
Many Chinese National Awards in Tai Chi, Xing Yi, Bagua. Winner of martial arts tournaments in Beijing, Dan Dong, and Ho Nan Province.
National championship in Guan Dao, and served as advisor and instructor for the Chinese Martial Arts movie "Three Kingdoms."
Appeared in numerous articles in local Chinese and American newspapers. Featured in Black Belt Magazine.
 
Styles Taught
Master Sun has also achieved high level of skill in the following styles of internaal and external martial arts:
Sun Style:
Kevin studied Sun style taiji with his aunt, Master Sun Wanyong, whose grandfather, Master Sun Lutang, is the founder of this style of taiji. Master Kevin Sun is a 4th generation lineage holder of the Sun style Taijiquan.
Chen Style:
Kevin’s teachers are Masters Wang Tinglong and Bai Shuwen (Liao Ning Province), both students of the famous late Master Chen Zhaokui, son of Chen Fake, the most famous Chen style master of the 20th century.
Yang Style:
Among Master Sun’s many teachers is the famous Grandmaster Zhang Wenguang, founder of the 12-form, and the person who introduced Tai Chi to the Western world at the 1932 Olympics Games in Berlin.
Wu Style:
Master Sun studied with Grandmaster Wang Huipu from the city of Liao Ning. Grandmaster Wang is the martial arts brother of the internationally famous Grandmaster Wang Peishan.
Besides Tai Chi, Master Sun is also proficient in the following branches of internal and external Chinese Martial Arts:
Bagua Zhang (Eight trigram Palm):
Master Sun’s teachers included his grandfather, his student Xu Zhongqing, and the famous Grandmaster Lu Zijian. Master Lu, a living legend, also known as "The Yangtze River Great Chivalrous Man," is presently 111 years old, but still practicing and teaching martial arts.
Xing Yi Quan:
Master Sun received training in this style of internal martial arts from his grandfather, Master Wang Tinlong and Master Xu Zhongqing. Master Sun spent two years coaching the Chinese Army city guards in Da Ling.
Shaolin Kung Fu:
Kevin’s teachers include Master Wang Tinlong and Master Xu Zhongqing, as well as De Zhuo, one of the head monks of the Shaolin Temple. Master Sun’s specialties include:
Master Sun came to Delaware in 1996 as an instructor at the Physical Education Department of the University of Delaware teaching various Chinese martial arts. Since 2003, Master Sun has organized and conducted Chinese Physical Arts Tours to Beijing Sports University in a Study Abroad Program. He also founded the University Tai Chi Club.
Master Sun is the founder and director of the Sun Kung Fu School and the Sun Taijiquan School in Delaware. He also teaches at many locations, including Senior Centers and Christiana Care Center.
